Uzbekistan, Tashkent – Podrobno.uz. A court has fined an Afghan citizen for attempting to bring hashish into Uzbekistan. The narcotic substance was discovered during his crossing of the state border.

According to case materials reviewed by Podrobno.uz, on July 10, the man was crossing the Uzbek-Afghan border through the "Ayritom" customs post. During inspection, customs officers found 0.15 grams of hashish in the pocket of his vest.

Forensic chemical analysis confirmed that the seized substance was a narcotic drug. During the preliminary investigation, the accused fully confessed to his guilt.

The Termez District Court found the foreigner guilty of drug smuggling. When imposing the sentence, the court took into account his confession, remorse, lack of prior convictions, and the fact that the defendant is a foreign citizen. As a result, the court fined him 8.24 million soums.

The previously paid bail will be used to cover the fine. The seized hashish will be destroyed after the verdict comes into legal force.
