The Criminal Court of Uzbekistan has issued a verdict against Anvarjon Otakhodjayev, the former mayor of Namangan city. This was reported by the press service of the Fergana regional courts.

According to the court verdict, he was found guilty under several articles of the Criminal Code. In accordance with Part 3 of Article 59, by partially adding the imposed sentences, the former mayor was sentenced to 11 years of imprisonment with deprivation of the right to hold positions involving material responsibility for 3 years.

During the trial, appropriate sentences were also imposed on six other individuals in this criminal case. Specifically, three defendants were sentenced to imprisonment ranging from 7 to 10.5 years, two to correctional labor for 2 years and 6 months, and one to restriction of liberty for 3 years.

The parties have the right to appeal the first-instance court decision in accordance with the procedure and deadlines established by law to the Fergana regional court.

It is worth recalling that in September 2025, the State Security Service reported the arrest of Anvarjon Otakhodjayev. According to investigation data, the city mayor allegedly conspired with the head of a shoe manufacturing LLC, promising the entrepreneur the right to build a multi-story building on 35 соток of land in the city. In exchange, they demanded $60,000.

Otakhodjayev was appointed mayor of Namangan in December 2023. He was born in 1972 in Namangan. He graduated from the Namangan Engineering-Economics Institute in 1994 and 2002, and from the Academy of Public Administration under the President in 2011.
