Uzbekistan has recorded a significant decline in the extraction of key energy resources, including coal, oil, natural gas, and gas condensate, since the beginning of this year. This is according to the report of the National Statistics Committee for January-June 2026.
Hydrocarbon production continues to shrink steadily. In the first half of the year, 18.3 billion cubic meters of natural gas were extracted, which is 16.4% less than in the same period of 2025. Oil extraction fell by 3.1% to 313,800 tons, and gas condensate by 19.7% to 462,100 tons.
Compared to the first half of 2024, the figures have dropped even more significantly: gas by 18.7%, oil by 13.9%, and condensate by 26.1%. Coal extraction during the reporting period decreased to 2.5 million tons, which is 16.7% less than in 2025 (3 million tons) and 3.8% below the 2024 level (2.6 million tons).
At the same time, the country produced 614,200 tons of automobile gasoline, which is 6% more than the same indicator last year (579,700 tons), although this volume remains 9.1% below the 2024 level (675,900 tons). Positive dynamics continue in the production of diesel fuel and Portland cement. Diesel output reached 568,000 tons, increasing by 2.1% compared to 2025 (556,400 tons) and by 12.5% compared to 2024 (505,100 tons). Portland cement production rose to 10.1 million tons, which is 2% more than in 2025 (9.9 million tons) and 31.2% higher than in 2024 (7.7 million tons).
Electricity generation in the republic increased by 5.7% during the reporting period, reaching 44.14 billion kWh. This growth was driven by small business entities, which increased generation by 36.7% to 14.31 billion kWh. Large enterprises, on the contrary, reduced output by 4.6% to 29.83 billion kWh. Heat energy production by large enterprises decreased by 18.1%, amounting to 9.28 million Gcal.
