The Termez International Trade Center will expand to 1,000 hectares. The president announced this at a meeting on February 27.
Last year, the center was visited by over 800,000 Afghan citizens, with exports reaching $320 million. Now, goods and services trade in the center will be treated as exports, subject to a zero value-added tax (VAT) rate.
Plans include establishing major production facilities at the center. Export volume is targeted to reach $600 million this year and $1 billion next year, along with creating 10,000 additional jobs.
To ensure rule of law, a special prosecutor's office and internal affairs department will be operational at the center. The center opened in August 2024, allowing Afghan citizens visa-free entry for up to 15 days.
