The Supreme Court of Uzbekistan has officially denied reports that a meeting for court heads was held on August 15, following the death of Aziza Mirzayeva, chairwoman of the Tamdy District Court, in a traffic accident.

The accident occurred around noon on Saturday on the Zarafshan–Tomdi road. According to preliminary data, Mirzayeva lost control of her car, which then veered off the road and overturned. The court chairwoman sustained severe injuries and died at the scene.

Earlier, human rights activist Abdurakhmon Tashanov wrote that the Supreme Court leadership allegedly held a meeting for the entire judicial system that day, requiring city and district court heads to be in their offices.

The Supreme Court called this information false, stating that no meetings were scheduled or held on August 15, and no orders were given to work on the day off.

The Supreme Court also urged the public not to jump to conclusions or spread speculation about the causes of the accident and the purpose of the deceased's trip until the official investigation is completed.
