Tashkent, Uzbekistan – Podrobno.uz. The new 2026/2027 academic year in all general education schools of Uzbekistan will traditionally begin on September 2. On the same day, students of academic lyceums and technical colleges will also start their studies.

According to the Ministry of Preschool and School Education, over 795,000 first-graders will sit at their desks for the first time this year. On their first school day, each of them will ceremoniously receive the 'President's Gift' — a set of 12 essential school supplies.

In higher educational institutions, the academic process will start a bit later. According to the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation, first-year students will begin classes on September 7, while senior students (second year and above) will start on September 14.

Earlier it was reported that applicants who scored high points but did not qualify for any of the five chosen directions may be given the opportunity to submit documents for a sixth, additional direction. The new procedure is planned to be launched as early as next week.
