President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has announced a new target to increase Uzbekistan's economy to $300 billion by 2030. The head of state made this statement on August 28 during a ceremony dedicated to the 35th anniversary of Uzbekistan's independence.
"The next decade will be a period of national uplift for us. We can achieve this only through the intellect, labor, and unity of our people," said Shavkat Mirziyoyev. To this end, the government plans to implement seven national programs. The initial directions include education and personnel training, healthcare, and the transition of the economy to a high-tech model with high labor productivity.
The third national program will focus on the economy. According to the president, Uzbekistan plans to attract $450 billion in foreign investment over the next decade. Additionally, the president set a new economic target: "Maintaining high rates of economic growth, we will bring the GDP volume to $300 billion by 2030."
This represents a significant increase from previous goals. In his address to the Oliy Majlis and the people of Uzbekistan on December 26, 2025, Shavkat Mirziyoyev stated that the GDP could exceed $240 billion by 2030. Initially, the "Uzbekistan — 2030" strategy set a target of $160 billion. However, the president emphasized that the country would surpass this figure as early as 2026.
The $240 billion target was later maintained. In July 2026, the president said that to achieve it, the economy must grow by at least 8-9% annually. The president also announced plans to create 2 million high-income jobs in the industrial sector.
"To fully realize the potential of young people, the development of startups, venture financing, and artificial intelligence will be among the priority areas," he said. Additionally, a special ecosystem will be created to allow small businesses to grow into medium-sized ones, and medium-sized enterprises to become large companies and corporations.
"As a result, in the next decade, GDP per capita will exceed $10,000," said Shavkat Mirziyoyev. These goals are aimed at fundamentally modernizing the country's economy and enhancing its global competitiveness.
