Uzbekistan has improved its position in the Speedtest Global Index, a worldwide ranking of internet speeds. In August, the country moved up three places in both mobile and fixed broadband, and among CIS countries it took first place for fixed broadband speed.

According to the Ministry of Digital Technologies, average mobile download speed increased over the month from 62.42 to 65.27 Mbps. This allowed Uzbekistan to rise from 75th to 72nd place in the global ranking.

Over five years, the country has gained 65 positions in mobile internet speed. Moreover, since the beginning of 2026, mobile internet in the country has noticeably accelerated. Over eight months, average download speed grew by 27% — from 51.42 to 65.27 Mbps.

Growth was also recorded in fixed networks: the indicator increased from 94.23 to 94.50 Mbps. As a result, compared to December 2025 data, Uzbekistan rose from 76th to 73rd place in the world.

These achievements indicate positive results from efforts to develop digital infrastructure and expand internet access in the country. However, international competition remains fierce, and sustained investment is necessary to further improve and maintain speed indicators.
