President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev has awarded the Chairman of the Jokargy Kenes of Karakalpakstan, Amanbay Orinbaev, the special rank of Major General. The announcement was made during a meeting dedicated to the socio-economic development of the region.

The rank was conferred for many years of service in internal affairs bodies, contributions to the development of Karakalpakstan, ensuring security, and strengthening unity and harmony in society. This decision underscores the focus on stability in the region.

At the meeting, the president also paid attention to the cultural heritage of the Karakalpak people. In 2027, the 200th anniversary of the birth of poet and thinker Berdakh Kargabay uulu will be celebrated. Mirziyoyev emphasized the need to study, digitize, and preserve the heritage of outstanding representatives of the people, making it accessible, including for young people.

It was proposed to prepare a program of events for Berdakh's 200th anniversary and to celebrate the jubilee at the state level. This initiative aims to strengthen cultural ties and educate the youth.

Earlier, it was reported that from March 2027, a high-speed train is planned to be launched between Tashkent and Nukus. Travel time is expected to be reduced from the current 16 hours to approximately seven hours. This is an important step in developing the region's transport infrastructure.
