A 35-year-old Uzbekistani national, who had been wanted on fraud charges and allegedly eluded investigators, has been returned from the Russian Federation to Uzbekistan. According to the internal affairs department of the Bukhara region, the suspect is a resident of the 'Sadir' neighborhood in the Peshku district.
The criminal case against the individual falls under part 1 of article 168 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan, which pertains to fraud. The suspect was officially placed on the wanted list on August 27 of this year after allegedly fleeing from the preliminary investigation authorities.
As a result of operational search activities, law enforcement officers managed to track down the fugitive to St. Petersburg. He was reportedly detained on Russian territory and subsequently returned to Uzbekistan to face accountability.
Upon arrival, the suspect was handed over to the investigative group at the Peshku District Internal Affairs Department. Authorities note that this follows a similar recent operation where another citizen accused of large-scale fraud was extradited from Georgia through Interpol channels.
