Law enforcement authorities in Uzbekistan have exposed another high-profile corruption case involving local government officials. The deputy mayor of the Tashkent district was apprehended red-handed while allegedly receiving a substantial bribe in exchange for promising business assistance to a local entrepreneur.

According to reports from the press service of the State Security Service, the situation revolves around a one-hectare plot of land currently registered under the district administration's balance sheet. The territory was officially designated for establishing the production of construction technologies and composite doors. Investigators assert that the official intended to leverage personal connections within the state asset management system to arrange an auction and ensure the businessman's victory for a fee of 25,000 US dollars.

The suspect was intercepted by security officers precisely at the moment the illicit transaction was being completed. A criminal case has been formally initiated, and extensive investigative procedures are currently underway to uncover any potential accomplices involved in this corruption network.

Observers note that administrative corruption remains a persistent challenge in various regional sectors. In a separate recent incident within the Kibray district, a local water supply service chief was detained after allegedly demanding 16,000 dollars to drop legal claims against a resident's property, with an initial installment seized directly inside the official's office.
