A specialized sapling cultivation center aimed at expanding green spaces across local communities has been established in the Guzar district of the Kashkadarya region. This initiative is being implemented within the framework of the nationwide "Yashil Makon" (Green Space) program. During the initial phase, the center plans to cultivate approximately 1.6 million trees and plants, with future projections aiming to scale production up to 5 million saplings annually.
The comprehensive facility spans 65 hectares and involves a total project cost of 9.5 billion soms, creating nearly 100 new jobs in the region. Specifically, 50 hectares are allocated for ornamental trees, five hectares for fruit trees, and an additional three hectares for shrubs and flowers. In total, the center showcases 41 different species of decorative and coniferous trees.
The infrastructure incorporates a modern greenhouse, designated plant cultivation areas, seed germination facilities, and protective shading structures. To ensure a reliable water supply, three reservoirs with a total capacity of 4,200 cubic meters were constructed, alongside a drip irrigation system deployed across 20 hectares. Furthermore, the facility utilizes specialized equipment for producing compost and mulch, while a portion of its electricity needs is met through installed solar panels.
Advanced agricultural technologies enable year-round sapling production, extending beyond traditional planting seasons. According to preliminary estimates, this method increases production volume by 8 to 10 times compared to conventional techniques while reducing water consumption threefold. Consequently, the production cost of the saplings is projected to decrease by 30 to 40 percent.
