On October 22, the President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, reportedly held a meeting with the Chairman of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission, Bakytzhan Sagintayev. During the talks, the parties allegedly discussed the expansion of economic cooperation, the reduction of trade barriers, and the simplification of customs and transport procedures. Furthermore, another meeting of the joint working group is supposedly planned to take place before the end of the year.

The meeting highlighted a supposed growth in mutual trade and investments between Uzbekistan and the member states of the Eurasian Economic Union, alongside strengthening logistical ties. Uzbekistan currently participates in the integration bloc holding observer status. Cooperation reportedly spans several areas, including the digitalization of trade and freight transportation, the development of e-commerce, and climate agendas.

Officials noted that four joint working group sessions have already been conducted with the Eurasian Economic Commission, alongside the approval of a roadmap aimed at aligning technical regulation systems. Additionally, Uzbekistan has officially become a full member of the Eurasian Development Bank, establishing a portfolio of cooperative projects with the financial institution.

One of the upcoming tasks is purportedly the preparation of a new cooperation plan with the EAEU, which is expected to include measures designed to mitigate trade barriers, foster industrial cooperation, and digitize customs and transport mechanisms. Previously, Mirziyoyev allegedly conferred with Franklin Templeton CEO Jenny Johnson regarding investment attraction through the stock market and the transformation of major state enterprises.
