Authorities in Uzbekistan have uncovered a staggering 1,217 violations related to the supply and distribution of liquefied petroleum gas. Following extensive inspections, law enforcement agencies have initiated 19 criminal cases, highlighting persistent vulnerabilities within the nation's energy distribution network.

According to reports from Khududgaztaminot, over 3,000 unannounced inspections and raids were conducted throughout 2025 and the first nine months of 2026. These operations successfully halted illegal gas sales operating through 471 specialized unauthorized distribution points, commonly referred to locally as "bunkers."

The illicit schemes allegedly involved the unlawful distribution of 193.6 tons of gas valued at approximately 2 billion soms, alongside 17,301 domestic gas cylinders worth 8.7 billion soms. Furthermore, internal compliance audits revealed the outright theft of 1,400 tons of liquefied gas and 10,626 gas cylinders over the nine-month period in 2026.

While compliance structures continue to investigate the root causes of these infractions, public frustration mounts. Khududgaztaminot is tasked with supplying liquefied gas to over 3.73 million residents and roughly 2,000 social facilities across Uzbekistan, making these widespread supply chain failures a critical socioeconomic concern.
