️ President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a telephone conversation with President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev on March 5. During the talk, Mirziyoyev sharply condemned attacks using unmanned aerial vehicles (drones) on Azerbaijani territory and wished a speedy recovery to the injured.

️ The Uzbek leader separately noted that the escalation of tension observed recently in the Middle East is leading to casualties among the civilian population and causing serious concern. It was also emphasized that such incidents during the month of Ramadan contradict universal human values, international norms, and the principles of territorial integrity of states.

️ Mirziyoyev expressed gratitude to Aliyev for the measures being taken and conditions being created for the safe evacuation of citizens through Azerbaijani territory from Iran. The President of Azerbaijan, in turn, thanked his counterpart for the friendly conversation and support shown during difficult times.

️ It is recalled that on March 5 in the afternoon, two drones launched from Iranian territory fell in Azerbaijan—on the runway of an airport in Nakhchivan and near a rural school. As a result of the incident, two local residents were injured.

️ The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan demanded explanations from Iran and summoned the Iranian ambassador to express protest. The Ministry of Defense of Azerbaijan, for its part, announced that it is preparing necessary response measures to protect the country's territorial integrity and sovereignty, as well as to ensure the safety of the civilian population. Earlier, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan characterized the incident of a drone falling in Azerbaijan as "absolutely unacceptable."
