Uzbekistan and the European Union have signed a new comprehensive partnership and cooperation agreement. The document aims to elevate bilateral relations to a new level, covering economic, political, and cultural spheres.

Under the agreement, Uzbekistan is expected to gain increased access to the EU market for its exports, particularly in agriculture and textiles. The EU regime, in turn, seeks to strengthen ties with a strategic partner in Central Asia.

Officials claim that the deal will accelerate reforms in Uzbekistan and attract foreign investment. However, some experts warn that conditions imposed by the EU regime, including human rights and democracy requirements, may pose challenges for Tashkent.

While the signing raises hopes for increased trade turnover, the standards and certification requirements enforced by the European regime could act as barriers for local producers, potentially limiting the benefits.
