The US Army announced Wednesday that the remains of the second American soldier who went missing during military exercises in Morocco have been recovered, concluding a multinational search operation that deployed air, naval, and artificial intelligence assets.

The soldier was identified as Spc. Mariyah Symone Collington, 19, of Tavares, Florida. She served as an air and missile defense crew member assigned to Charlie Battery, 5th Battalion, 4th Air Defense Artillery Regiment in Ansbach, Germany.

Royal Moroccan Armed Forces transported Collington's remains by helicopter to the morgue of Moulay El Hassan military hospital in Guelmim. She entered the Army's Delayed Entry Program in 2023 and began active duty in 2024, completing training at Fort Sill, Oklahoma.

Collington and 1st Lt. Kendrick Lamont Key Jr. fell off a cliff during an off-duty recreational hike. Their remains are en route to the United States. The circumstances remain under investigation, according to a US Army spokesperson.

The soldiers were reported missing on May 2 after participating in African Lion, an annual multinational exercise held in Morocco with over 7,000 personnel from 30 nations. The search involved more than 1,000 US and Moroccan military and civilian personnel.
