A Russian attack has damaged port infrastructure in Ukraine's Danube River port city of Izmail, a vital grain-export hub. The attack occurred in the early hours of Tuesday, targeting the largest Ukrainian port on the Danube.

According to the Odesa Regional State Administration, Ukrainian air defense destroyed almost all Russian UAVs over open territory outside populated areas. The attack lasted from about 1am to 3am local time.

In Kharkiv, two people were rescued and one may remain trapped under rubble after a Russian drone attack. Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said four drones heading for the capital were downed.

In Russia's Kursk region, a woman was killed and two wounded in a Ukrainian attack. Drone attacks were also reported in the Rostov and Yaroslavl regions.

The fighting continues despite a US-brokered three-day ceasefire. Russian President Vladimir Putin is set to arrive in Beijing for a two-day state visit.

The Russian Defense Ministry announced exercises from May 19-21 to prepare for nuclear forces deployment. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Russian refining capacity has dropped by 10 percent in recent months.
