The Ministry of Health of Uzbekistan has announced significant changes to the country's medical education and salary system. According to the ministry's press service, starting next academic year, an Advanced Medical Support School will be established at the Academy of Nurses of the Tashkent State Medical University.

The project will be implemented jointly with the University of Pennsylvania, whose School of Nursing ranks first in the world. This collaboration aims to bring international best practices into Uzbekistan's healthcare training.

The bachelor's program in 'Higher Nursing' will be transformed into 'Higher Medical Support'. Enrollment in the bachelor's program will be increased by at least 20% annually. Training will be organized through joint programs with leading foreign universities, with at least 70% of the curriculum based on foreign educational programs.

Graduates of the bachelor's program will receive a monthly allowance equivalent to one minimum wage, while master's graduates will receive two minimum wages. These measures are intended to enhance the attractiveness of the profession and retain skilled healthcare workers.

Earlier, it was reported that Uzbekistan is launching a large-scale reform of higher medical education. The 'General Medicine' program will be extended to six years under a 5+1 model: five years of study and one year of clinical practice.
