The San Antonio Spurs forced a decisive Game 7 in the NBA Western Conference finals with a dominant 118-91 victory over the Oklahoma City Thunder on Thursday. The series is now tied 3-3, with the final game set for Saturday in Oklahoma City.
French phenom Victor Wembanyama led the Spurs with 28 points, 10 rebounds and 3 blocks, bouncing back from a poor Game 5 performance. “We ain’t done nothing yet,” he said. “When your back’s against the wall, it feels like it’s the best opportunity.”
The Spurs came out aggressively, hitting eight three-pointers in the first quarter — their most in any postseason quarter this year. A 20-0 run in the third quarter put the game out of reach, as the Thunder went scoreless for over seven minutes.
Thunder coach Mark Daigneault admitted, “When you lose the way we did tonight, there’s a lot more we could have done.” Spurs coach Mitch Johnson promised his team would be “ready to go into a hostile environment” for Game 7.
The winner will face the New York Knicks, who swept through the Eastern Conference playoffs with an 11-game winning streak.
