Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed's Prosperity Party secured a landslide majority in parliamentary elections, according to results released Sunday by the national election board. The party won 90% of the seats in parliament.

"The ruling Prosperity Party secured 438 of the 486 seats in the House of Peoples' Representatives," announced Melatwork Hailu, chairperson of the National Elections Board (NEBE). The victory underscores the fragmented nature of the opposition.

The June 1 legislative elections have been described as a success by authorities, despite excluding parts of the country, including areas in the Tigray and Amhara regions. This raises questions about the inclusivity of the electoral process.
