Paraguay and Morocco have secured their spots in the Round of 16 of the World Cup, defeating Germany and the Netherlands respectively in penalty shootouts.
The Germany vs. Paraguay match ended 1-1 after extra time. Julio Enciso put Paraguay ahead in the first half, while Kai Havertz equalized after the break. In the penalty shootout, Paraguay triumphed 4-3, eliminating the four-time world champions. Jose Canale scored the decisive penalty.
In the other match, the Netherlands and Morocco also played to a 1-1 draw over 120 minutes. Cody Gakpo gave the Dutch the lead in the 72nd minute, but Issa Diop equalized in stoppage time. Morocco won the penalty shootout 3-2, with Ismael Saibari converting the winning spot-kick.
In the Round of 16, Paraguay will face the winner of the France vs. Sweden match, while Morocco will take on Canada, who previously defeated South Africa.
Earlier, Brazil secured a dramatic win over Japan to advance to the Round of 16.
