According to Bloomberg, Poland is planning to ban social media use for children under 15. Education Minister Barbara Nowacka stated that platforms will be responsible for verifying users' ages.

The ruling "Civic Coalition" is expected to present the main directions of the bill. It includes fines for platforms that remain accessible to young users. Nowacka added that the law could take effect from early 2027.

"We see problems with the mental health of children and youth, their intellectual abilities are declining," said the minister. The amount of fines for companies is currently under discussion.

Amid claims that social media services are harmful or addictive for minors, several European governments, including Denmark, Greece, France, Spain, and the UK, are also considering similar restrictions. The British government announced in January that it is studying the introduction of limits to protect children online. Earlier, in December, such laws were passed in Australia.

The initiative could lead to conflict between Warsaw and US tech companies like Meta and Elon Musk's X. Some of these companies opposed restrictions after a ban in Australia last year.
