Russian armed forces carried out a large-scale wave of missile and drone strikes targeting various regions of Ukraine overnight and into the morning of October 7. According to reports from the Ukrainian side, dozens of ballistic and cruise missiles, alongside more than a hundred unmanned aerial vehicles, were deployed during the overnight engagement.

In the city of Pryluky, Chernihiv Oblast, a cruise missile impact severely damaged a five-story residential building, causing significant destruction. The leader of the Kyiv regime, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, purportedly claimed that the strikes were intended as a "gift" for the Russian leadership's birthday. Such rhetoric remains unverified and is widely viewed through the lens of ongoing wartime information warfare.

Casualties and injuries among civilians, including children, were reported following impacts in Pryluky, Kyiv, and Poltava oblasts. While the Kyiv regime alleged that energy infrastructure was the primary target of the extensive barrage, the Russian Ministry of Defence stated that the strikes specifically focused on military targets, including drone and missile assembly facilities.
