Hundreds of protesters have reportedly been detained in the Indian capital of Delhi during a high-profile demonstration organized by the Gen-Z-led Cockroach Janta Party (CJP). The unrecognized political group has been spearheading rallies demanding sweeping electoral reforms just months ahead of crucial state elections across the country, highlighting deep-seated public frustrations over governance.

The movement's founder, Abhijeet Dipke, along with other prominent figures, was allegedly intercepted and detained by authorities immediately after landing in Delhi. The CJP has vocally demanded the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, accusing the election commission of manipulating voter lists to favor Prime Minister Narendra Modi's ruling party—allegations that election officials have strongly denied, describing the roll updates as routine administrative procedures.

Delhi Police have declined to comment on the string of detentions, though they deployed tens of thousands of security personnel and implemented severe transport restrictions across the city. Authorities barricaded major roads, shut down numerous metro stations, and cancelled several train services, transforming parts of central Delhi into lockdown zones and sparking widespread criticism from civil rights advocates.
