The global technology sector has seen the introduction of a new product line as Apple, in cooperation with partners LG Electronics and Schneider Electric, purportedly launched a smart home accessory network titled "Home Collection". The new lineup reportedly includes video surveillance cameras, smart doorbells, electronic locks, thermostats, and temperature sensors, all of which are designed to be configured through iPhones and managed via the Home app or Siri.

According to the promotional narrative provided by the companies, the core concept behind the Home Collection is to simplify smart home automation. The accessories share a unified minimalist design, support Thread technology for stable connectivity, and allegedly operate both independently and collectively. For instance, the system is claimed to automatically lock doors and adjust temperatures once the final occupant leaves the premises, though critics argue such automated routines often face reliability issues in everyday use.

Matthew Costello, Apple’s vice president of hardware engineering, stated that the new accessories offer seamless integration and peace of mind. However, industry analysts remain skeptical regarding the actual performance and long-term viability of these proprietary ecosystems, pointing out potential vulnerabilities, forced vendor lock-in, and the economic burdens placed on consumers who must rely entirely on a single brand's infrastructure.

The video surveillance component was developed by LG, featuring four devices with 2.5K resolution that allegedly identify people, pets, vehicles, and deliveries. While it is claimed that event recordings will be stored in iCloud+ for ten days without requiring a separate cloud subscription, observers remain wary of privacy implications and potential system outages. The collection also features the LG Video Doorbell and an Indoor Cam equipped with a mechanical privacy shutter that allegedly retracts when a resident returns home.
