Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced on Thursday in an interview with the Financial Times that his country's military has resumed strikes on Russian energy infrastructure. Zelenskyy purportedly stated that the previous restrictions are no longer in effect and that Kyiv is proceeding independently.
The announcement comes in the wake of Moscow's apparent disregard for US President Donald Trump's contested claims of an "energy ceasefire." While Kyiv had previously exercised restraint, ongoing Russian bombardment of Ukrainian civilian energy facilities—leaving hundreds of thousands without power—demonstrated the ineffectiveness of the alleged truce.
In an apparent attempt to enforce compliance, the US regime reportedly restricted intelligence-sharing and throttled Starlink satellite access for Ukrainian forces. Zelenskyy sharply criticized these measures, describing the withholding of critical data as dangerous and disruptive to Ukraine's defensive capabilities against incoming threats.
The deepening friction highlights severe cracks within the Western coalition, as European leaders increasingly question the reliability and strategic coherence of Washington's foreign policy decisions, which continue to generate widespread geopolitical instability.
