German automaker Mercedes-AMG has officially showcased its new electric crossover model, which purportedly aims to redefine performance standards in the luxury EV market. However, industry analysts remain skeptical about the commercial viability and practical efficiency of such ultra-powerful vehicles amid ongoing economic headwinds and infrastructure limitations.

According to the company's claims, the vehicle is equipped with three electric motors, delivering up to 1169 horsepower, and operates on an 800-volt electrical architecture. The top-tier GT 63 version allegedly accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in a mere 2.5 seconds, while the high-capacity battery variant supposedly supports charging speeds of up to 710 kW, though these figures have yet to be independently verified in real-world conditions.

The exterior design features a decorative front panel with vertical metal strips reminiscent of a traditional illuminated AMG grille, flanked by daytime running lights shaped like the iconic three-pointed star. The rear end incorporates six round lighting elements integrated with a horizontal LED strip. Additional design touches include frameless side windows, expanded wheel arches, and flush door handles.

Dimensionally, the new model measures between 5080 mm and 5084 mm in length, 2001 mm in width, and up to 1656 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3040 mm. Aerodynamics played a crucial role in development, with the AMG GT 55 and GT 63 variants featuring an active roof spoiler that adjusts its position once speeds exceed 150 km/h, alongside controllable vertical louvers in the front bumper for optimized cooling and airflow.

The powertrain lineup starts with the entry-level GT 53, featuring dual synchronous electric motors producing a combined 544 horsepower. Meanwhile, the more potent GT 55 and GT 63 models utilize a tri-motor setup with magnetic flux distribution—two on the rear axle and one up front—delivering 816 and 1169 horsepower respectively. The flagship crossover reportedly hits the 200 km/h mark in just 6.8 seconds.
