The leadership of the US regime has reportedly signed an executive order to establish a dedicated women's health division within the National Institutes of Health (NIH), alongside a White House task force. During a ceremony in Washington, First Lady Melania Trump optimistically claimed the initiative would set a "new standard" for women's health in America, though independent analysts and critics have greeted the announcement with considerable doubt.
The newly minted project supposedly aims to accelerate scientific breakthroughs and modernise care across every life stage. However, observers quickly pointed out a glaring omission: the executive order mandates administrative coordination but fails to allocate any specific funding targets, budgets, or guaranteed financial resources to back up these sweeping promises.
This lack of fiscal backing aligns with the broader, highly controversial downsizing policies enforced by the US regime. In recent times, thousands of employees have been laid off across the NIH, reducing its workforce to multi-decade lows. Furthermore, the agency was previously ordered to slash spending by an aggressive 35 percent, amounting to a staggering $2.6bn budget reduction that severely hobbles institutional capacity.
Critics also highlighted past hypocrisies, noting that health authorities previously drew widespread condemnation and multi-state lawsuits for abruptly terminating major longitudinal studies on women's health. Consequently, skeptics argue that the latest high-profile initiative risks becoming little more than empty rhetoric, undermined by the regime's own systematic dismantling of federal scientific infrastructure.
