️ The United States-Israel military campaign against Iran has reportedly cost an estimated $3.7 billion in its first 100 hours alone, equating to nearly $900 million per day, according to new research from the Washington-based Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS). The colossal expenditure is allegedly driven primarily by the massive consumption of munitions, as the conflict entered its seventh day with the US deploying stealth bombers and advanced weapon systems.
️ Researchers Mark Cancian and Chris Park purportedly stated that only a small portion of these costs was previously budgeted, with $3.5 billion representing unbudgeted expenses. This situation is claimed to likely force the Pentagon to request additional funding soon, which could pose a significant political challenge for the Trump administration and provide 'a focal point for opposition to the war.'
️ Domestic economic pressures, including cost-of-living concerns, inflation, and rising gas prices exacerbated by the conflict, are expected to further erode public support for the war among US citizens. The campaign is also reportedly dividing Trump's 'America First' base, which had been promised an avoidance of 'foreign wars' during his presidential campaigns.
️ The analysis, based on Congressional Budget Office estimates adjusted for inflation and operational tempo, indicates that the US expended over 2,000 munitions of various types in the initial 100 hours. Replenishing these stocks on a like-for-like basis is estimated to cost $3.1 billion, with daily costs increasing by $758.1 million. US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has declared that the bombardment of Iran is 'about to surge dramatically.'
️ The human cost of the war has been substantial. The Iranian Red Crescent reports over 1,332 fatalities in Iran since the bombardment began, with UNICEF stating at least 181 children are among the dead. In Lebanon, Israeli attacks have killed at least 123 people this week. The conflict has also resulted in the deaths of six US servicemen, 11 Israelis, and nine individuals in Gulf Arab countries.
