Uzbekistan's President Shavkat Mirziyoyev today announced a new foreign policy concept for the country during a press conference in Tashkent. This document outlines key directions for Uzbekistan's future international relations and is aimed at stimulating the nation's growth on regional and global stages.
In his speech, President Mirziyoyev emphasized: “Our new foreign policy is based on strengthening Uzbekistan's independence, supporting economic development, and expanding international cooperation. We are committed to preserving peace and stability in Central Asia, as well as developing economic and cultural ties with neighboring states.” He also noted a focus on strengthening Uzbekistan's relations with important partners such as Russia, China, and others.
The new concept envisions increased participation by Uzbekistan in various international organizations, including the United Nations (UN) and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO). The president highlighted that these steps will help enhance the country's international prestige and attract foreign investments. He further stressed the importance of establishing balanced relations with different regions to maintain Uzbekistan's economic and political independence.
At the press conference, Foreign Minister Abdulaziz Kamilov discussed practical measures for implementing the new concept. He stated: “We will expand the network of diplomatic missions and actively participate in international discussions to carry out this policy. This will serve to strengthen Uzbekistan's position in the world.” The minister also emphasized that the implementation of the new foreign policy will bolster Uzbekistan's role in addressing regional and global challenges.
