The Ministry of Justice of Uzbekistan has drafted a bill aimed at combating the organization and participation in illegal street races on public roads. The document proposes introducing administrative and criminal liability for holding such competitions.

The ministry emphasized that unauthorized races pose a serious threat to public safety and often result in casualties.

The bill was developed in response to growing concerns among the public and road users. According to experts, existing control measures are insufficient to prevent traffic accidents caused by street racers. The new regulations are intended to toughen penalties for both drivers and organizers of illegal events.

Currently, the document has been sent for coordination to relevant ministries and agencies. After completing the established procedures, the bill will be put up for public discussion, where citizens can voice their proposals.

Recall that a criminal case has been initiated in the Mirabad district of Tashkent over an incident involving a traffic police inspector. An investigation has been launched under Article 266 of the Criminal Code ("Violation of traffic safety or vehicle operation rules").
