Out of 558.7 thousand tons of coal exported by Tajikistan, 99.91% was purchased by Uzbekistan.

In 2025, Tajikistan produced over 2.8 million tons of coal, an increase of 235 thousand tons or 10% compared to 2024. This was announced by Minister of Industry and New Technologies Sherali Kabir at a press conference in Dushanbe.

Coal exports saw growth, with 558.7 thousand tons shipped abroad, up 42% from the previous year. The main buyer was Uzbekistan, which acquired 99.91% of the total volume—558.2 thousand tons. The remaining 474 tons were purchased by Afghanistan.

On the domestic market, 2.27 million tons of coal were sold, including 800 thousand tons supplied to TPP-2 in Dushanbe. Nearly 451 thousand tons were sold to the public.

It is reported that construction of new coal enterprises is planned in the coming years. Work is underway with companies from Russia, China, European Union countries, and Uzbekistan to attract investments and develop production capacities.
