The next round of negotiations between Ukraine, the United States, and Russia could take place on February 17 or 18 in the United States. However, Russia's participation in these consultations has not yet been confirmed. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated this in an interview with Bloomberg.

According to the head of state, one of the discussion topics will be the US proposal to establish a free economic zone in eastern Donbas as a buffer mechanism. Zelenskyy noted that the idea is met with skepticism by both sides of the conflict.

"Neither side is enthusiastic about the idea of a free economic zone — neither the Russians nor us. We have different views on this. And the agreement was: let's return to the next meeting with a vision of how this could look," he said.

Zelenskyy also reported that the US administration proposes signing all agreements as a package. He stated that Ukraine would need to approve any possible peace agreement either through a parliamentary vote or a national referendum.

During the upcoming talks, the parties may discuss issues of post-war reconstruction in Ukraine and focus on the economic agenda. The Ukrainian delegation plans to include Economy Minister Oleksiy Sobolev to discuss the so-called "prosperity package" with the United States.

The president emphasized that any possible ceasefire would require a monitoring mechanism involving the United States.

The previous round of negotiations in early February took place in Abu Dhabi (UAE) with the participation of Russian, Ukrainian, and American representatives. Zelenskyy characterized the meeting as constructive and noted that with goodwill, the war could end within a few months.

At the same time, he added that the parties could not finalize details without political decisions at the highest level.
