A trilateral meeting of energy ministers from Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan was held in Tashkent, resulting in an agreement to enhance coordination in the region's water-energy sector.
The negotiations were attended by Kazakhstan's Energy Minister Yerlan Akkenshenov, Kyrgyzstan's Energy Minister Taalaibek Ibraev, and Uzbekistan's Energy Minister Jurabek Mirzamahmudov. Tajikistan's Energy Minister Daler Juma was also invited to the session.
Participants discussed the current state of cooperation in managing water-energy resources, as well as issues related to ensuring the stable operation of the regional energy system. Special attention was paid to coordinating power plant operation regimes, adhering to water resource usage parameters, and developing joint solutions to enhance energy supply resilience.
The parties emphasized the importance of mutual support during seasonal load periods and the need to maintain stable water levels in transboundary rivers to ensure Central Asia's energy security.
Following the negotiations, a protocol was signed, solidifying the agreements reached and confirming the countries' intention to continue cooperation in the water-energy sector.
