According to the latest data on labor migration between Uzbekistan and Russia, more than 106,000 Uzbek citizens were sent to Russian enterprises through organized recruitment programs in 2025. This was reported by Rahmon Hakimov, Deputy Advisor to the President of Uzbekistan, in his official statement.

The report highlights that approximately half of these recruited labor migrants (around 50,000 people) secured employment at major Russian companies. These include industry giants such as Gazprom, Lukoil, KamAZ, AvtoVAZ, Ozon, and SPAR.

Currently, an estimated 1.3 million Uzbeks are temporarily working in Russia. In 2025, the two countries agreed to relocate some stages of work permit processing to Uzbekistan's territory and expand pre-departure training for workers to better prepare them for the Russian labor market.

The Uzbek side has proposed expanding Russian language testing systems to the Fergana Valley, home to nearly one-third of the country's population, by opening additional testing centers in Jizzakh and Andijan. This initiative aims to address language barriers that often hinder migrant workers' integration and productivity.

Previously, Russia's Ambassador to Uzbekistan, Alexey Yerkhov, expressed the authorities' readiness to create special conditions for citizens returning from labor migration. This move is seen as an effort to facilitate the reintegration of migrants and potentially encourage skilled workers to return home.
