At the invitation of Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, Tajik President Emomali Rahmon will undertake a state visit to Uzbekistan on March 26–27. The visit is set to include high-level negotiations and the inaugural session of the Supreme Interstate Council, chaired by the two leaders.
The focus is expected to be on further strengthening Uzbek-Tajik relations of friendship, good-neighborliness, strategic partnership, and alliance. The agenda encompasses the development of political dialogue, expansion of trade-economic and interregional cooperation, deepening of industrial collaboration, enhancement of transport connectivity, and ensuring water-energy security.
The sides will also discuss current issues on the international and regional agenda, as well as interaction in multilateral formats. Following the visit, the signing of a package of bilateral documents and the launch of new joint projects are planned.
