The Institute for Economics and Peace (IEP) has released the Global Terrorism Index 2026, reporting that Central Asian countries remain among the safest in the world in terms of terrorist threats. The index analyzed 163 nations, with most regional states demonstrating high security performance.
Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Turkmenistan scored zero points, indicating no recorded terrorist incidents during the reporting period. All three countries jointly ranked 100th. These results highlight the effectiveness of counter-terrorism measures and stability policies in the region.
Uzbekistan also showed a very low risk level, scoring 0.114 points and ranking 96th, maintaining its position in the 'very low terrorist threat' category. This reflects positive outcomes from Uzbekistan's security efforts and anti-terrorism strategies.
The only country in the region with a higher score was Tajikistan, which ranked 41st. This suggests a relatively higher terrorist threat in Tajikistan, but overall, Central Asia is recognized as a secure region on a global scale.
