A bilateral meeting took place in Bukhara between Uzbekistan's President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Kazakhstan's President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. The talks focused on deepening and strengthening the relations of friendship, strategic partnership, and alliance between the two nations. Mirziyoyev congratulated Tokayev on the successful constitutional referendum in Kazakhstan, highlighting the warm rapport between the leaders.
Significant economic progress was noted, with trade turnover steadily growing to reach $5 billion last year. Cooperation projects are being successfully implemented in sectors such as automotive, infrastructure, logistics, electrical engineering, and construction materials. New initiatives in chemicals, geology, energy, and auto parts manufacturing were also reviewed, underscoring both countries' push for economic diversification.
Special attention was paid to developing interdependence in transport and logistics. The need for joint measures to modernize border infrastructure, remove barriers, and create efficient transport corridors for access to external markets was emphasized. Additionally, discussions covered accelerating major regional projects like the Kambarata hydroelectric power plant construction and initiatives for "green" energy exports.
In cultural and humanitarian spheres, plans were agreed to enhance exchanges, including organizing culture days, youth forums, and strengthening cooperation in creative economy and tourism. A commitment was expressed to develop partnership in innovative and high-tech areas, such as space technology, digitalization, and e-commerce. Following the meeting, governments were tasked with adopting a "roadmap" to implement the agreements reached.
