Uzbekistan, Tashkent – AN Podrobno.uz. The fourth FIDE World Team Championship in Rapid and Blitz will take place in Hong Kong, featuring the strongest national chess teams on the planet. Special attention is focused on the Uzbekistan team, which will arrive at the tournament with one of the most powerful lineups in its history.
The team, led by former world champion Rustam Kasimdzhanov, includes the new generation leaders of Uzbek chess: Nodirbek Abdusattorov, Javokhir Sindarov, Nodirbek Yakubboev, Shamsiddin Vokhidov, as well as Mukhiddin Madaminov, Afruza Khamdamova, and Umida Omonova.
Particular attention is drawn to Javokhir Sindarov, who recently won the FIDE Candidates Tournament 2026, becoming one of the biggest revelations in world chess. Paired with Abdusattorov, who has long established himself in the global elite, they form one of the most dangerous duets of the tournament.
The World Team Championship in Rapid and Blitz in Hong Kong is being held in East Asia for the first time and gathers chess superstars, including Magnus Carlsen and the strongest international teams. The tournament format includes both classic Swiss rapid and dynamic blitz with a knockout stage.
Uzbekistan is among the main contenders not only for high places but also for the title, especially considering that the team is viewed as one of the favorites for the upcoming Chess Olympiad. Sindarov arrives in Hong Kong in brilliant form — his duet with Abdusattorov promises to be one of the brightest at the championship. This is also a dress rehearsal before the 46th Chess Olympiad, which will take place in Samarkand at the end of the year, where Uzbekistan will be considered one of the main favorites.
A strong lineup, youthful energy, and already proven victories make the Uzbek team one of the most anticipated at the tournament in Hong Kong.
