The Consulate General of Uzbekistan in Almaty has provided extensive assistance to 82 citizens facing difficult life circumstances over the past month. Support included accommodation, medical treatment, document recovery, and purchasing tickets for return to Uzbekistan.
Specifically, 11 homeless citizens were placed in hostels, and air tickets to Uzbekistan were purchased for 13 individuals facing financial difficulties. Special attention was given to protecting labor migrants' rights: 34 citizens had their passports returned, which were illegally withheld by employers.
Diplomats also helped one compatriot receive emergency medical care – he was hospitalized, and treatment costs were fully covered by the state.
Consulate staff held online meetings with 221 citizens staying in temporary facilities. Based on their appeals, documents were prepared for their return to Uzbekistan.
To expand assistance, the consulate signed an agreement with a local hostel and organized an outreach reception in Shymkent, where over 60 Uzbek citizens received consular services, from passport processing to citizenship issues.
Diplomats visited construction sites in Almaty and Shymkent, speaking with over 170 labor migrants. They explained working conditions, available benefits, and new initiatives, while reminding them to comply with Kazakh legislation.
A special focus was placed on prevention – citizens were warned about the risks of involvement in banned organizations and urged to strictly follow migration rules.
