The Consulate General of Uzbekistan in Kazan has conducted consular and legal work regarding the situation involving citizens of the republic during a raid by law enforcement agencies in the Nizhny Novgorod region of Russia.
Earlier, a rug depicting the Russian tricolor was found in the apartment of a female citizen of Uzbekistan. Following this, the Russian side launched an investigation, including consideration of possible criminal proceedings under the article on desecration of the state flag.
As a result of negotiations with the competent authorities of Russia through diplomatic channels, including the representative office of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Nizhny Novgorod, a decision was made to refuse to initiate a criminal case against the woman under Article 329 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.
Currently, in accordance with the requirements of migration legislation, procedures related to the return of the citizen to Uzbekistan are being carried out. Her return to her homeland is scheduled for August 6, 2026.
The diplomatic mission noted that they will continue to take necessary measures to protect the rights and legitimate interests of the republic's citizens.
