Azerbaijan's Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov announced at a joint press conference in Baku with Moldova's Foreign Minister Mihai Popșoi that the country has decided to evacuate its diplomatic missions in Iran.
According to the Foreign Minister, this decision was based on instructions from Azerbaijan's President Ilham Aliyev. As part of this move, the Azerbaijani embassy in Tehran and the consulate general in Tabriz will be evacuated.
Bayramov noted that the president had given necessary directives following a drone attack, after which diplomatic steps were taken. He emphasized that Azerbaijan's security measures are always maintained at a high level.
The minister added that in the context of rising risks and military operations in close proximity, the combat readiness level of the armed forces has been increased, leading to corresponding orders being issued.
Bayramov stated that Baku is also awaiting the results of an investigation into the incident from Iran. "In accordance with Iran's promise, we will wait for the investigation results, and based on this, decisions will be made and appropriate steps will be taken," the minister declared.
