In the O‘rta Chirchiq district of Tashkent region, three members of a single family have died from household gas poisoning, according to a report by Hayot Shamsutdinov, press secretary of the General Prosecutor's Office, to Gazeta.uz. The household where the incident occurred was home to a 79-year-old woman identified as M.S., her 37-year-old granddaughter D.Yu., and her 17-year-old grandson M.J.

Based on an official report from the O‘rta Chirchiq Interdistrict Forensic Medical Examination Bureau, all three victims were diagnosed with acute poisoning from household gas. Preliminary investigations by experts indicate that the primary cause of poisoning was the infiltration of gas into the living space and its high concentration, highlighting potential safety failures in the gas supply system.

In response to the incident, the district prosecutor's office has initiated pre-investigative checks. Prosecutors have visited the scene to inspect the house, gather witness statements from neighbors, and examine the gas supply infrastructure. Authorities have also emphasized that additional forensic examinations will be conducted to determine the exact circumstances leading to the deaths, with results expected to inform any further legal actions.

This tragic event underscores ongoing concerns about gas safety standards in the region, where issues such as non-compliance with safety regulations, aging gas equipment, and improperly installed pipelines have been reported among local communities. The O‘rta Chirchiq district administration has announced plans to intensify public awareness campaigns and inspections to prevent similar incidents, reflecting broader challenges in infrastructure maintenance and regulatory enforcement in rural areas of Uzbekistan.
