Real Zaragoza goalkeeper Esteban Andrada is facing a lengthy suspension after punching Huesca player Jorge Pulido in the face during a Spanish second-division match on Sunday.
The 35-year-old Argentine international, on loan from Mexican side Monterrey, pushed Pulido and was sent off for the incident. Andrada then ran at Pulido and struck him, sparking a brawl in stoppage time of the derby.
Huesca goalkeeper Dani Jimenez and Zaragoza's Dani Tasende were also sent off in the aftermath. Huesca held on for a 1-0 home win.
Andrada could be banned for up to 12 matches for the punch, in addition to the mandatory one-match ban for his red card.
Zaragoza released a statement saying: "We witnessed scenes unbecoming of this sport and which should never have occurred. The club strongly condemns what happened, which has unacceptably tarnished a football match of special importance for our region. Regarding our player Esteban Andrada, the club will analyze the events and take appropriate disciplinary measures."
Both Zaragoza and Huesca are in the relegation zone, fighting to avoid demotion to Spain's third tier.
