Three corruption schemes involving officials have been uncovered in the Andijan region of Uzbekistan. The perpetrators demanded money for court decisions, reduction of damages, and illegal land allocation, Podrobno.uz reports.

In the first case, a chief specialist of the territorial department of the State Assets Management Agency demanded $15,000 for a court ruling in favor of a businessman and cancellation of a property lease termination. He was arrested while receiving the money through a third party.

In the second case, an engineer of the Andijan branch of Regional Electric Networks JSC demanded $15,000, promising to reduce the damage amount from 650 million soums to 40 million soums for illegal electricity use at a rice drying workshop. He was detained while receiving $10,000.

The third incident involves a 67-year-old head of the cadastral department of a district branch. The official had previously received $3,000 for allocating 25 sotiks of land: 8 for house construction and 17 for a farm. He also forged documents for 8 sotiks. During a recent inventory, the plot was deemed illegal, and the owner was fined 82 million soums. The cadastral chief was arrested while returning the $3,000 through an intermediary.

Criminal cases have been initiated on all three counts, and investigations are ongoing.
