In the Ishtikhan district of the Samarkand region, two children have died following circumcision procedures performed at the district medical association. Relatives claim that both boys were admitted to the hospital in satisfactory condition, but necessary tests were not taken before the operation.
The first incident occurred on March 22. A five-year-old child underwent circumcision. The next day, bleeding began. The doctor bandaged the wound and said everything was fine. However, by evening the child developed a fever. The family followed the doctors' recommendations, but there was no improvement. The surgeon was called home on March 27. He said the child had caught a cold and it would pass. After objections from a nurse, the child was taken back to the hospital. He was placed in intensive care, and half an hour later the family was informed of his death.
The second incident occurred on April 3. The patient developed an allergic reaction and high fever after circumcision. The hospital told the family it was natural and would pass. The child died on April 8. He also had not undergone a general examination before the procedure.
Head of the press service of the Prosecutor General's Office, Hayot Shamsutdinov, reported that on May 2, the prosecutor's office opened a criminal case under Part 3 of Article 116 of the Criminal Code (Improper performance of professional duties). Additional investigative actions, including confrontations and exhumation, have been ordered.
Earlier, it was reported that doctors at the Republican Scientific Center for Emergency Medical Care performed a complex unique operation that saved the life of five-year-old Umarjon Abdurazzoqov. The boy's condition became critical due to complications arising after surgical intervention at a foreign clinic.
