In May 2025, during a history certification exam, the answer "Visigoths" to the question "Which tribe captured all of Spain after the death of Justinian I?" has been accepted as correct. The Scientific-Practical Center for Pedagogical Excellence and International Assessment announced this.
The center stated that due to scientific discrepancies in the question's formulation, the teachers' certification results have been revised. Both "Lombards" and "Visigoths" are now considered correct answers.
Four history teachers had sued the ministry over this question but lost in two court instances. However, after an appeal to the President's virtual reception, the ministry reviewed the certification results.
Lawyer Umarjon Jumaniyazov said plans are underway to file a lawsuit to claim moral damages and expenses.
Dilfuza Sobirova, head of the ministry's information service, confirmed that points will be added to the certification results, and each case will be examined.
