️ According to a decree by the President of Uzbekistan dated February 24, from 2027, the installation of modern electronic drinking water meters in corridors and apartments of all new multi-story residential buildings constructed in the country will become mandatory. This regulation applies to meters that possess a certificate of compliance with current technical standards.
️ Responsibility for implementing this measure has been assigned to the Ministry of Construction and Housing and Communal Services, the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, the regional administrations and the Tashkent city administration, as well as the Ministry of Economy and Finance. The state program for 2026 envisions the installation of over 305,000 water meters.
️ In July 2025, mass installation of "smart" devices for accounting and controlling drinking water in residential buildings began in Tashkent. According to the "Tashkent City Water Supply" company, the project was implemented following a two-year pilot in the Shaykhantakhur district. Last year, plans were made to install 50,000 such meters, with 670,000 installations targeted by 2030.
️ In May of last year, the company "Technopark" (whose shares are owned by the Tashkent city administration, but the enterprise itself is managed by another private company) announced that AKFA BUILD company, in partnership with Austria's Diehl Metering, had commenced production of Osten water meters.
️ Simultaneously, the installation of water meters under the brands "Eko Nom" and "Novator" is not permitted due to the expiration of their certification validity. The company "Uzsuftaminot" clarified that previously installed and sealed meters of these brands can continue to be used.
️ The installation of "smart" water meters is being carried out within the framework of the "Transformation of the Drinking Water Supply and Wastewater System of Tashkent City" project, implemented in cooperation with the French company Suez.
