Uzbekistan Hydromet Warns of Mudflow and Flood Risk in Mountainous Areas on March 18-19

The Hydrometeorological Service of Uzbekistan (Uzhydromet) has issued a warning about possible mudflows and floods in the foothill and mountainous regions of the republic on March 18-19 due to expected heavy rains. In an official statement, the agency emphasized that there is a likelihood of rainwater accumulation, which could lead to flooding in these areas.

The at-risk zones include residents of foothill and mountainous areas, vacationers, and drivers traveling in these regions. Uzhydromet has called on these groups to take precautionary measures and continuously monitor weather conditions. This warning is particularly significant for tourists and vehicles operating in mountainous terrains.

According to Uzhydromet data, the rains may result in water accumulation and the formation of mudflows, potentially causing damage to residential properties, roads, and infrastructure. The agency recommends that the public and organizations in the tourism sector implement necessary measures, such as temporary evacuation from hazardous zones or restrictions on transport movement.

This alert highlights the ongoing risk of natural disasters associated with increased precipitation during the spring season in Uzbekistan. Uzhydromet stated that it will continue to update weather forecasts and may issue further warnings in the future. For citizens and organizations, this information is crucial for ensuring safety and preparedness.
